Add subscription OAuth, protected credentials, Codex app-server streaming, account isolation, conversation resume, and native Wave AI settings. Provide a BYOK setup form and FreeRDP/VNC viewer launch controls. Remove telemetry collection, reporting, diagnostic pings, and AI gates.

Add deterministic auth, protocol, approval, privacy, and viewer tests, plus Fedora build instructions and documented integration limitations.

Validation: targeted Go race suites, frontend build, lint, frontend regressions, installed-Codex protocol checks, and backend HTTP smoke pass. The full TypeScript check retains 17 pre-existing preview-mock errors. Live account inference and remote desktop sessions remain unverified.

Walkthrough

The pull request removes telemetry collection and its frontend access gates. It adds ChatGPT account authorization, protected credential storage, and a Codex app-server backend for Wave AI chat. It also adds subscription and API-key configuration controls, plus authenticated local APIs and Settings controls for native RDP and VNC sessions. Documentation describes the added features, telemetry behavior, and development and validation steps.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Estimated code review effort: 5 (Critical) | ~120 minutes

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 56694

The new ChatGPT sign-in and Codex chat features mostly work, but three edge cases remain. Sign-in can stall on some Linux browser setups. Users may need to sign in again if saving credentials to the keyring fails. A temporary Codex error can end a reply that Codex would have retried. These are worth fixing soon, but they do not block merging.

Clear polling errors when polling recovers.

If one refresh fails, Line 24 updates the sessions on later successful refreshes but leaves the failure alert visible. The alert remains until the user starts another connection. Keep polling errors separate from connection errors, then clear the polling error after a successful refresh. This preserves connection failures while showing the current polling state.

Do not wait for the browser launcher while you hold m.mu.

SignIn holds m.mu and calls m.open. The default opener is open.Run (pkg/aiusechat/chatgpt/store.go, Line 76), which waits for the launcher command to exit. If xdg-open runs in generic mode, it can run the browser in the foreground and not return. The loopback callback must lock m.mu, so it blocks too. Status and the 2.5-second polling in the Settings view and AI panel also block. The authorization page then hangs and the sign-in never completes.

Release the lock before you open the browser, or use a non-blocking opener such as open.Start.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Keep the new refresh token when the encrypted save fails.

m.save(d) updates m.data only after m.store.Save succeeds. The refresh grant has already returned t.RefreshToken, and the server has usually invalidated the old refresh token. If the Electron encryption RPC or the keyring fails at this moment, the code discards the new refresh token. Memory and disk both keep the consumed token. The next Token call sees an expired access token and refreshes with the old token. That call gets invalid_grant, so the user must sign in again.

Update the in-memory profile before you try the save. A failed save then loses durability only, not the session.

Codex app-server protocol v2 ErrorNotification willRetry field

💡 Result:

In **app-server protocol v2**, `ErrorNotification.willRetry` is a **required boolean** on the wire (`will_retry` in Rust, serialized as `willRetry`).

- `true`: the error is transient and the app server will automatically retry; it **will not interrupt the turn**.
- `false`: the notification does not promise an automatic retry.

The current v2 implementation defines it as a non-optional `bool` and documents the `true` behavior. ([github.com](https://github.com/openai/codex/blob/main/codex-rs/app-server-protocol/src/protocol/v2/notification.rs?utm_source=openai))

The Codex app-server can mark an error notification as retryable. When willRetry is true, continue reading notifications instead of returning chatgpt.Error(data.Error).

Skip the test when /usr/bin/python3 is missing.
